This is the recipe for my mom’s home-made pizza. The pizza I grew up with and love, shared with the world during the apocalypse that is COVID-19.
Ingredients:
- 15oz tomato sauce
- 1 TBS Italian seasoning
- 1/2 TBS Oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 8 oz. Mozzarella
- 8 oz. Mild Cheddar
- Parmesan Cheese
- Garlic salt
- Hormells Pepperoni (50 count)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 450F
Using Pillsbury Pizza dough (or my preference is Pillsbury Hot Roll mix if you can find it and use the pizza instructions), let the dough rise so that it is easier to stretch across the pan.
Now, roll out dough on pans, if its the ready made tube it will be too much for a 12 inch pan but make the edges stick up like a wall. I like to get some flour on my hands to keep it from sticking.
Combine the following in a bowl to make the sauce:
- 15oz tomato sauce
- 1 TBS Italian seasoning
- 1/2 TBS Oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper (You might leave this off if you have a kid that isn’t in to spicy)
Spread sauce evenly. I put in in the middle and then swirl it outwards to the edge.
Shake garlic salt evenly over sauce (go easy…did I just say that?).
Spread half of the mozzarella bag on each pizza and then cheddar about one-third of a bag of cheddar on each.
Place pepperoni evenly, or make a face, I don’t care if you are crazy.
Shake parmesan evenly over the whole pizza. I make sure to first put the pepperoni on because this gives it a nice texture. So a couple of seconds of shaking over the whole thing.
Order matters. Its all we have to keep the world in its place.
Cook for 11-13 min or until you see things nice and bubbly.
